From Code to Global Leadership: The Technical Journey Behind the Aeriva CEO

Summary

In an exclusive interview, Nicolas Dotti details Aeriva's strategy to challenge global tourism giants. Discover how the use of intelligent agents and generative AI is simplifying and connecting the entire global travel ecosystem.

Aeriva Hack

Before assuming the role of strategist in redefining the global tourism ecosystem, Nicolas Dotti paved his career directly at the forefront of software architecture and information security. Far from being a traditional business executive, the CEOAerivabrings the DNA of a high-performance developer, with deep knowledge in decentralized infrastructures, data intelligence, and agile development.

His technical background is robust and diverse.

Nicolas consolidated his foundation in data engineering with a Diploma in Python and advanced specializations from the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN Buenos Aires), language that today serves as the foundation for the market's most sophisticated Artificial Intelligence algorithms.

Anticipating major technological waves, he specialized as a Blockchain developer (certified by IBM and the Blockchain Academy) at the beginning of the Web3 rise, and masters creating modern and cross-platform interfaces through his expertise in Flutter.

Furthermore, his vision on system resilience and integrity is backed by the title University Expert in Ethical Hacking (UTN), which provides toAerivaa critical competitive advantage: the ability to build a global travel infrastructure that is not only intelligent and ultra-connected, but structurally secure and shielded.

It is with this technical background from someone who understands "what happens under the hood" that Nicolas leadsAerivato solve one of the oldest problems in the sector: technological fragmentation. Check out the exclusive interview below.

Building the next generation of travel infrastructure

Skift: AerivaAerivawas born in an extremely competitive market dominated by large global players. What were the most important moments in the company's development?

Nicolas Dotti:When we started the projectAeriva, we observed that the travel industry still operated with enormous technological fragmentation. Hotels, airlines, operators, DMCs, booking systems, and suppliers used platforms that rarely communicated with each other.

Our vision from day one was different: we didn't just want to create another OTA or metasearch engine. We wanted to build an intelligence layer capable of connecting the entire travel ecosystem.

The evolution of generative AI greatly accelerated this opportunity. Today, we can use intelligent agents to organize scattered information, automate operational processes, and create highly personalized experiences for travelers and businesses.

What we are building is a platform where technology drastically reduces the sector's complexity.

The autonomous and connected trip

Skift: You mentioned the concept of "AI-connected travel." What does that mean in practice?

Nicolas Dotti:People don't want to manage dozens of apps during a trip. They just want to travel.

But the reality is that a trip involves hundreds of variables: flights, accommodation, ground transportation, weather, documentation, insurance, local experiences, operational changes, and countless unforeseen events.

Our vision is for artificial intelligence to take on much of this complexity. Imagine a system capable of understanding the traveler's complete context, anticipating problems, and acting before they even happen.

  • If a flight delays, transportation is automatically adjusted.
  • If the weather forecast changes, activities are reorganized.
  • If a better opportunity for accommodation or experience arises, the traveler receives personalized recommendations in real time.

We believe that the future will not be just digital. It will be predictive. AI will not only be a search tool. It will be a permanent layer of intelligence accompanying the entire traveler's journey.

The role of theAerivain the era of AI agents

Skift: Many people believe that, in the future, AI agents will make bookings directly with suppliers. Where doesAerivafit into this scenario?

Nicolas Dotti:This is a fundamental question. There is a perception that AI will eliminate intermediaries. I see the situation differently.

The complexity of travel does not disappear just because there is a conversational interface.

Booking a trip involves technological integration, global payments, inventory management, fare rules, customer service, compliance, operational support, and relationships with thousands of suppliers.

AI agents will require infrastructure to execute these tasks. That is exactly where theAerivacreates value.

We are building a layer that allows agents to access multiple suppliers, consolidate information, execute transactions, and solve problems in a scalable way.

AI talks with the user. TheAerivamakes the trip happen.

Generative AI and personalization at scale

Skift: What changes when AI starts understanding the traveler deeply?

Nicolas Dotti:Personalization is no longer based only on history but moves to being based on intention. If someone is planning a trip to Japan, it's not enough to know that this person likes five-star hotels.

We need to understand the reason for the trip, cultural preferences, consumption profile, available budget, schedule flexibility, and even contextual factors that change daily. AI allows us to transform millions of signals into relevant experiences.

This generates more value for the traveler and also for the platform's partners. When we better connect supply and demand, everyone wins.

Building an AI company for the travel industry

Skift: Many companies have added AI to their products. AerivaAerivacame into existence in a different scenario. How do you view this?

Nicolas Dotti:There is an important difference between incorporating AI and being born AI-oriented. InAeriva, artificial intelligence is not a feature. It is at the core of the architecture.

Our systems are designed to continuously learn, automate complex processes, and operate with a level of efficiency impossible in traditional models.

We believe that the next big travel tech companies will be built on intelligent agents, advanced automation, and open infrastructure. We are positioned exactly in this direction.

Leadership, adaptation and constant learning

Skift: What characteristics do you consider essential for leading a tech company in such an accelerated time of transformation?

Nicolas Dotti:Intellectual curiosity. The market changes too fast for anyone to believe they have all the answers. The role of the leader today is not to know everything. It is to create an environment where the best ideas can emerge, be quickly tested, and evolve.

I also strongly believe in adaptability. Technology changes. Business models change. Consumer behaviors change. Companies that can learn faster than their competitors have a huge competitive advantage.

Resilience and long-term building

Skift: Entrepreneurship in technology requires resilience. How do you view this?

Nicolas Dotti:Every startup faces difficult times; we are starting capitalized and with a high-level engineering team.

There are periods where results take longer than expected, where the technology needs to be rebuilt, or where the market changes faster than planned. In these moments, discipline and resilience make a difference.

But resilience does not mean insisting blindly. It also means recognizing when it is necessary to change direction. Often, success does not come from working more hours. It comes from the ability to learn faster, adapt better, and maintain consistent execution over time.

This combination of discipline, continuous learning, and long-term vision is what I believe differentiates companies that survive from companies that transform markets.

The vision for the future

Skift: How do you imagine theAerivain the coming years?

Nicolas Dotti:I seeAerivaas one of the main intelligence layers in the global travel industry.

The traveler will continue seeking experiences. Suppliers will continue offering services. But the way these two sides connect will be completely transformed by artificial intelligence.

Our goal is to be at the center of this transformation. We want to create an infrastructure where intelligent agents, suppliers, and travelers can interact in a more efficient, personalized, and with less friction manner.

We believe that the future of travel will be defined by AI. And we are building theAerivato lead this change.
