VIDEO: Tourist Jumps into Iguazu Falls Waters to Retrieve Cellphone and Shocks Visitors

A true test for the nerves of those watching. On Saturday morning (6), a Brazilian tourist staged an unbelievable and extremely dangerous scene at the Iguazu National Park, in Foz do Iguazu (PR). The man simply climbed the protective railing and jumped into the turbulent waters of the Falls to retrieve a fallen cell phone.

The moment was recorded by other visitors who were at the location and the video quickly went viral on social media.

In the impressive images, it is possible to see the man hanging from the walkway, jumping towards the rocks and getting just a few meters from the force of the falls.

After retrieving the device, he makes a physical effort to climb the iron structure and return to the safe walkway.

Firefighters' Intervention and Park Eviction

The irresponsible action happened on the walkway accessing the famous Devil's Throat, one of the most visited and dangerous spots on Brazil's side of the park.

The civil firefighters of the unit, who constantly monitor the trails, acted immediately upon noticing the infraction. According to the administration of Iguazu National Park:

• The tourist (whose identity was not revealed) was approached immediately.
• The professionals applied appropriate safety guidelines.
• The man was escorted by the team until the end of the visit and removed from the park.

Official Park Statement:The administration reinforced that it is expressly prohibitedcrossing, climbing, sitting, or hanging from guardrails and protective structures, whether to take photos, selfies, or try to retrieve lost objects.
